Healing Mates ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates The 77th Anniversary mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.


1. Information We Collect

We collect various types of information to provide, maintain, and improve the App’s functionality:

Personal Information:

  • Account Details: Your phone number, name, age, gender, and preferences.
  • Profile Information: Photos, bio, non-negotiables, and responses to questions such as "What do you find interesting in this profile?"
  • Referral Program Data: Information related to your phone number and referral activity used to track rewards and enforce program rules.
  • Location Data: Your current location for distance-based matching and personalized marketing communications. We round your latitude and longitude to two decimal places (approximately a 1.1 km offset) to protect your privacy. Your approximate location is not shared with other users or third parties without your consent.

Usage Data:

  • App Activity: Data regarding your interactions within the App, such as likes, messages, matches, and other usage metrics.
  • Device Information: Details about your device, including device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
  • Thoughtful Communication Data: To foster genuine interactions, every message you send is required to contain at least 17 characters. Additionally, when expressing interest in a group setting, you are required to include an "Interest Reason" of 20 to 77 characters. These communication details are collected as part of your overall App activity.

Aggregated Data:

  • Reflecto Insights: Aggregated data generated by Reflecto—including recent likes, activity patterns, and messaging metrics (in accordance with our thoughtful communication requirements)—which may be visible to other users.
  • Reflecto Brief Profiles: Reflecto displays brief profiles of the 17 most recent profiles you have liked or received likes from. Each brief profile typically includes up to three photos, non-negotiables, and additional details, providing a quick overview of your recent interactions.
  • Analytics data collected via tools such as Firebase Analytics and BigQuery to improve the App’s functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for various purposes, including:

  • Operating the App: Matching you with potential partners based on your preferences and activity.
  • Providing Insights: Generating and displaying user interaction insights (via Reflecto), including aggregated messaging data.
  • Enhancing the Experience: Improving the App’s functionality, analyzing trends, and addressing technical issues.
  • Referral Program: Tracking referral activity, verifying eligibility, and enforcing program rules (including annual resets).
  • Ensuring Safety: Monitoring content and interactions for compliance with community guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Marketing and Advertising: We may use your location data and other personal information to deliver personalized marketing communications and promotional offers (such as advertisements, in-app notifications, emails, or SMS messages) tailored to your geographic area. You can opt out of these communications at any time.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information as follows:

  • With Other Users: Certain profile details (e.g., photos, bio, non-negotiables, and responses to "What do you find interesting in this profile?") are visible to other users to facilitate matchmaking and interaction.
  • With Service Providers: We share your data with third-party providers (e.g., Firebase) to support app operations, hosting, analytics, and marketing. These providers comply with applicable privacy laws (such as GDPR and PIPEDA).
  • For Referral Verification: Information related to referral activity may be shared internally to verify eligibility and track rewards.
  • When Legally Required: We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations, regulations, or valid legal processes.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Our data retention practices include:

  • Inactive Accounts: Data associated with accounts that have been inactive for 7 days or more may be permanently deleted through our automated processes.
  • Conversation Data:
    • Conversations that remain active beyond 7 days are automatically marked as inactive.
    • Inactive conversations—including all associated messages, likes, and related data—are permanently deleted after one year through our automated procedures.
  • Suspended Account Data: To prevent circumvention of suspensions and abuse of the App, we retain only the minimal data required for suspension purposes (e.g., your phone number) for several years—even after account removal.
  • Referral and Token Data: Information related to referral activities and token transactions is retained for as long as necessary to support these systems and may be deleted upon account removal.
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated analytics data is kept only as long as needed to improve the App and is then securely deleted.

4A. Data Backup and Recovery

We implement automated backup systems as part of our internal operational procedures to safeguard the integrity and continuity of your data. These backups are performed regularly and retained for periods consistent with our Data Retention practices. Please note that:

  • Backups are maintained solely for disaster recovery and operational continuity, and are not intended as a means for individual data retrieval.
  • In the event of technical issues or system recovery, some user actions (such as blocking or reporting) might be unintentionally reverted. While we make every effort to prevent such occurrences, Healing Mates is not liable for any resulting inconveniences or unintended data restorations.
  • Your continued use of the App indicates acceptance of these practices.

5. Your Choices

You have control over certain aspects of your data:

  • Profile Updates: You may edit or delete your profile information directly within the App.
  • Location Sharing: Disabling location services may limit your access to features that rely on distance-based matching and personalized marketing communications.
  • Opting Out of Analytics: You may opt out of non-essential analytics via the settings in the App, which will exclude your data from analytical processes that are not critical to App functionality.
  • Marketing Communications: You may opt out of personalized marketing communications at any time via the settings in the App or as instructed in the communication.
  • Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account within the App. Please note that certain aggregated or anonymized data may continue to be retained for legal or operational purposes.

6. Security of Your Information

We implement reasonable measures—such as encryption and secure server storage—to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You acknowledge that any transmission of data is at your own risk.


7. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We take steps to ensure that any cross-border transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, and our service providers adhere to relevant standards (e.g., GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses).


8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated via the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App following any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We disclaim any liability for damages arising from changes to this Privacy Policy.

10. Voice Affirmation and Audio Recordings

To promote genuine, lifetime commitments and foster transparency and accountability, our App may require you to record a brief voice affirmation during onboarding. This voice recording ("Voice Affirmation") serves as your personal commitment to honesty, transparency, and respect, and is stored along with your user profile.

Specifically:

  • Your Voice Affirmation will be uploaded to our secure storage (e.g., Firebase Storage) and associated with your account.
  • The recording will be publicly displayed on your profile for other users to hear.
  • We use your Voice Affirmation for purposes of user verification, community trust, and to promote authentic interactions.
  • The recording will be retained for as long as your account is active and may be removed or modified by Healing Mates at our discretion if it violates our community guidelines.
  • By providing a Voice Affirmation, you consent to its collection, storage, reproduction, and public display in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.
